According to the World Medical Association's Declaration of Helsinki, all researches involving human subjects, whether healthy or diseased, must be clearly discussed by a committee with members other than the researchers or the designer of the research project.

The primary aim of the Medical Ethics Committee is to protect human rights and secondarily, to protect the rights of researchers. Our decisions are based on Islamic rules and conform to the principles set by the Helsinki Declaration . Research proposals, approved by the DDRC Research Council, are sent to this committee for further evaluation. The DDRC Medical Ethics Committee has been registered in the Office for Human Research Protection (US Department of Health and Human Services) under registration number IRB1641.
